Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most popular questions about our Brass Monkey ice baths and cold plunges. Get in touch for any questions regarding ice baths or cold plunges you need the answer to.
What is the difference between an ice bath and a cold plunge?
Long story short ice baths are colder and involve ice while cold plunges tend to be chilled water. Our residential ice bath can plummet to 0°C and has the ability to generate its own ice, while our cold plunge barrel drops to 3°C.
Do Brass Monkey ice baths require ice?
No, Brass Monkey ice baths can create their own ice. Don't need ice, then you can check out our cold plunge barrel.
What sizes are available?
We offer two models, our ice bath and our cold plunge barrel. As all our products are hand built to order, if you have a custom project in mind, we can take care of that too. Please click here to find more about custom projects.
Can I use the ice bath indoors and outdoors?
Yes, Brass Monkey ice baths are designed for both indoor and outdoor use. However, ensure the setup location is flat and well-ventilated.
Are the ice baths customisable?
Yes, Brass Monkey offers custom design options, Any size, any finish, anywhere. Click here for more details
Do Brass Monkey ice baths include filtration systems?
Yes, all ice bath and cold plunge barrel models come with built-in filtration to maintain clean water.
What temperature should I set the bath to?
Our ice baths can achieve temperatures between 10°C to 0°C (50°F to 32°F) and our cold plunge barrel can achieve temperatures between 10°C to 3°C (50°F to 37.5°F). When dipping for the first time, we would definitely recommend starting off at 10°C and gradually overtime, you can start to reduce these temperatures as you become more comfortable and confident with cold water therapy.
How long should I stay in the ice bath?
Great question! It all depends on your experience with cold water therapy and the temperature of the water you are going into. We often say, focus on your breath work, remember why you are doing it and aim for two minutes. However, don't force it, if you really aren't enjoying it, then get out.
What are the main health benefits?
Regular use can reduce inflammation, improve circulation, boost mental focus, enhance recovery, and strengthen the immune system.
Is it safe for beginners?
Yes, but it’s essential to start slowly, don't set the temperature to cold and consult a healthcare professional if you have pre-existing conditions like cardiovascular issues.
